I’m sharing some beginner ukulele lessons for children in this post today. Ukulele can be a fun instrument for children to learn to play. In this post I’ll share some songs and lessons as well as teaching tips to help you help your students learn to play the ukulele.

BEGINNER UKULELE LESSON TO LEARN C CHORD

This beginner ukulele lesson to learn the C chord using the song “If I Had a Chicken”.

I wrote this silly song “If I Had a Chicken” to help my students learn to play a C chord.

If I had a chicken then I would go-

Over to Hawaii where it doesn’t snow.

Then my chicken could play all day!

And all the people would stop and say.

I also use it as another way for them to play rhythms on the ukulele.

There are more verses, but I like my students to make their own up.

If I had a _________________

The rest of the song is the same.

Exchange the word “chicken” for another animal.

Change the rhythms or not- make up silly sounds-play other instruments.

Such a fun activity for 3rd graders.

Hopefully it will work for you!

It’s also on the Sing Play Create Kids Music Channel
