This free music lesson works well in K-3rd grade classrooms, but can be adapted for K-6 lessons.

Print the Free Sheet music and the instrument parts to use in STATIONS!
Put the Shaker part at one Station, the Wood Block part at another Station. Put the lyric sheet, the bass and the melody parts at other stations. Have students rotate from station to station to work on the song.

Use the Free Note Name Sheet music with upper elementary students.
Have students play together in small groups and create more rhythm ostinato parts. Perform together.

Print the color notes and leave the sheet music for a substitute lesson for your 3rd through 6th graders.
Have students play together in small groups by parts. Perform together.

Add in some IMPROVISATION ACTIVITIES
(not included in the resource-but a yummy idea!)
Have your students “cook up” their own turkey stew! Substitute the words “carrots, potatoes and onions” for some of their other favorites. Play rhythms for their ideas. Share the “stew” after singing the song.
