Hopefully there’s no spiders or other creepy crawlers, or splashed ketchup or worse…and we’re talking classroom walls anyway– My walls have been my walls for 13 years. I’ve wondered why I haven’t painted them yet? Hmmm…maybe that will happen next year. But for now…let’s take a look at some of the things I’ve got displayed to help student access information and remember key concepts.
Last year, my theme was “Magic Music Classroom” I loved the boldness of the red and black!
Here you can see my composer wall and my Rules wall.
This fun MUSIC wall is just outside my door-and that’s not leaving. I purchased the letters at a craft store and then used die cut lettering and craft paper to fill in the things that music is a part of in the elementary curriculum MATH, LANGUAGE, HISTORY, READING AND SCIENCE.
Here are my I Can statements. I made a little shape for each grade level and attached a magnet so that the students can find their goals easily. I’m working on upgrading the I can’s and I’ve already printed some out this year.
Instead of the guitar I have my international children saying Hello!
This is my new THINKING TIME poster. It has the directions for the student who needs a “rest” out.
Here’s my smart board using the world themed power point template I created as part of the decor. My curtains are all black and white–like piano keys. The blinds don’t close so it looks bright-but it’s not. And here’s me standing on a little stage I had made for my classroom. The curtains are hanging from a PVC pipe stand that plugs into two cans with cement…it’s very sturdy…The students love to perform on it!
