Play the game as a whole class. Teacher leads off asking the question, “Boo hoo pumpkin stew, I’m a ghost. What are you?” The next student in the circle then responds “I’m a ______” choosing from the words in the presentation.
After playing the game, then students can pick the person to answer the question by pointing to them or saying their name.
There are many variations teachers can use to give students multiple opportunities to say and play rhythms as well as create their own patterns.
Teachers may want to print the flash cards and give all the students a card to say and play and create.
Teachers may want to have students practice their rhythms on instruments as well as create rhythm patterns.
After students play the game, then the teacher can use these activities in small groups.
