Elementary Music Curriculum Grades 4-6: Lessons, Songs, Activities

Teaching upper elementary music? Get songs, games, music lessons and more in this music lesson bundle of resources for grades 3-6.  All lessons are based on Orff and Kodaly methodologies and blend well with any music curriculum.  Most music lesson songs are original and teach basic music concepts with lesson materials to help students SING, PLAY INSTRUMENTS, DECODE RHYTHMS and CREATE &/OR COMPOSE.

These activities are based on the themes of the school year comprising 3-5 activities for each month. (Fall, Halloween, Holidays, Pirates, Winter, Valentine’s, President’s, St. Patrick’s, Spring)

BASIC CONCEPTS:  These music activities provide opportunities for students to experience music elements EXPRESSION, PITCH, MELODY, HARMONY, TIMBRE, TEXTURE, RHYTHM, BEAT, ARTICULATION, TEMPO, FORM DYNAMICS through a variety of learning activities such as singing, playing, moving, creating, composing, performing.

SCOPE & SEQUENCE: Materials are organized by themes according to the school year.  The Music Theory, Rhythm, Solfege activities are used to teach basic skills needed for the lessons.

RHYTHMS:

DYNAMICS:

• I can show fast and slow.

SOLFEGE: Students will have opportunities to learn the solfege scale, sight read and sing solfege.
