Read and Sing books help children connect music to the text. Using repetitive words, rhymes, word patterns, singing and reading aloud enables children to become fluent readers. Brain research supports the important and beneficial connection between music and early literacy learning. Young children can develop pre-reading skills, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, oral language skills, and fluency through singing and reading along with writing activities. Children love to sing. By singing together you will create shared active listening and learning experiences, model good reading strategies and build a warm classroom community. I know you will find that singing and reading the text will incrementally boost your student’s literacy skills.
