TEACH MUSIC DYNAMICS WITH THE GRIZZLY BEAR SONG
This song is a favorite of mine and my students! It makes a wonderful music and movement activity for young children. They love to play the game (you can find in the free resource link below) over and over again.
Playing instruments to show dynamics is another way for children to learn about loud/soft/quiet/very loud/very quiet sounds.
It’s easy to make a complete unit of learning out of these activities. I explain it in the video in depth.
Begin with the song and the actions, play the game, do the scarf movement and then get out some instruments to play for each line of the song.
Here’s an image from the resource that shows the connections.
The goal is to give the children as many different opportunities to learn about dynamics through hearing, feeling, seeing, moving and playing activities.
Be sure to watch the full video or listen to the podcast for the teaching tips and details.
