Here’s some quick tips on how to teach fun turkey fingerplays and why you need to use fingerplays and songs in your early childhood through 3rd grades.
Children respond so well when they are learning stories, use their hands and fingers and singing.
This blog post will help you understand why fingerplays are essential to use to strengthen literacy, memory and fine as well as gross motor skills. And so much more!

I’m sharing five easy to teach turkey finger plays and action songs you can use during the month of November.
Children don’t care if you sing well or not- they love having the chance to sing and move.
Fingerplays are a powerful tool for learning and getting verbal with your littles.
Children get to experience pitch, rhythm and tempo.
Repetition makes it easier to learn and improves participation.
Songs and fingerplays with motion combine fine and gross motor movement with language development.
Rhyming builds phonological awareness
Cumulative songs and rhymes build auditory memory and sequencing skills.
Songs and fingerplays work well with theme-based learning.
Teach the lyrics at an easy to learn pace. Let your students set the pace.
Use visuals like videos, stick puppets or magnet board pieces.
When using videos, pre-teach the song or fingerplay because so many of them are fast paced.
