If you need a music lesson for St. Patrick’s Day then read on. I’m sharing a St. Patrick’s Day elementary music lesson for PreK-2nd grades. You can watch the tutorial too!
The lesson goals are to connect with Irish culture through music, songs and dance. Students will move on the beat, play some rhythms with rhythm sticks and move to Irish music.
Combining these activities into one music lesson gives students a variety of experiences singing, moving and playing to Irish music.
Here’s the lesson plan order.

St. Patrick’s Day Brain Break Leprechaun Dance St. Patrick’s Day Kids Song Sing Play Create St. Patrick’s Day brain break “The Leprechaun Beat” is a fun St. Patrick’s Day song and dance by Sandra at Sing Play Create.
St. Patricks’ Day Steady Beat Activity song for music activity or movement break in PreK-2nd grades.
You can have your students stay in their personal spaces and do this easy dance and call out the ACTION WORDS!
The actions give students a short gross motor workout too!

This is a favorite Irish folk tune of my students. It’s silly and that makes it fun!
I also use this song with upper elementary to teach a partner song.
I use “This Old Man” with “Michael Finnigan”. The freebie has the materials to teach the partner song.
You can watch these videos to see how to use these songs in your music class during March and get tips on teaching partner songs.
I show how you can use the song with all grades. I give examples of different activities for K-6 in these videos.
