Here’s an easy tutorial for a winter scarf dance you can use with toddlers up to 2nd graders.
Scarf Movement Song “The Snow is On My Head”
TEACHING STEPS
I’m going to go through the steps I take to teach this song.
LYRICS:
1-The snow is on my head.
The snow is on my head.
Oh no, I’m very cold.
The snow is on my head.
REFRAIN:
Snow, snow go away. Come again another day.
Snow, snow you make it hard to go outside and play.
2-Shoulders
3-Belly
4-Knees
5-Toes
6-I’m covered up in snow.
DEMONSTRATE
First I’ll teach the lyrics by singing the song and having the students pat the beat.
Then I’ll have them clap the rhythms.
Next we’ll sing the song together.
Then I’ll listen as they sing the song.

Next I’ll go through the scarf movements.
We’ll use the scarf to bounce near each body part.

At the end of the song we move from our toes up to above our head.
6-I’m covered up in snow, I’m covered up in snow. Oh no I’m very cold, I’m covered up in snow.
