TEACHING STEPS

I’m going to go through the steps I take to teach this scarf movement song.

You’ll want to use a recording of the song so that you save your singing voice.

“SNOWFLAKE, SNOWFLAKE” is found on all the music listening services.

iTUNES

APPLE MUSIC

First I’ll teach the lyrics by singing the song and having the students pat the beat.

Then I’ll have them clap the rhythms.

Next we’ll sing the song together.

Then I’ll listen as they sing the song.

Now we’re ready to do the HAND ACTIONS!

You can purchase this song with and without literacy activities. It will make your teaching easier to use the music tracks and video sing along.

HAND ACTIONS

When teaching the hand actions it’s important to go slow and line by line.

This is a wonderful activity for developing eye hand coordination, fine motor skills and listening and responding skills.

Here are the hand actions to the “Snowflake, Snowflake” Song

SCARF MOVEMENT

Now students are ready for scarf movement actions.

Each action can be done four times except at the end when you toss it in the air.

Again, take your time and go line by line.

Don’t worry if the actions aren’t done perfectly, the children are having fun and exercising!

If using this scarf movement activity with younger children, then you’ll want to let them choose their own scarf movement, or use only 1 or 2 of the actions.
