You can use this fun Halloween song as a scarf movement activity.

You can use this fun Halloween song as a scarf movement activity.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE GHOST OF JOHN?

Young children love to wave scarves around.
Scarf movement promotes gross motor muscle exercise, cross body movement for brain connections and opportunities for creativity.
Children learn through play. This scarf movement activity promotes creative play. Children can pretend to be scary ghosts and fly through the sky with their scarf.
MOVEMENT DIRECTIONS
Each line of the song has a different movement.
Play the song and have the children move freely to the music.
Pretend to be ghosts and wave scarves around, high, low, up and down.
Next, teach each line of the song. Have the children echo repeat the line to you.
Demonstrate the movement for that line. You can use the FREE RESOURCE, or create your own movements.
Practice together.
Repeat this for each of the lines.
Now you can put all the actions together.
Encourage the children to move freely.
After they can do all the movements, then have them create their own patterns.
Have the children share their ideas.
Sing and move with scarves over several classes for children to get the full experience.
