In the Sing Play Create Version the lyrics go like this:
I’ve got my binoculars.
I’m not scared!
Look at that Giant Forest.
It’s so big!
We can’t go over it!
We can’t go under it!
We’ve got to go through it!
CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH
We’re going on a bear hunt!
I’ve got my binoculars.
I’m not scared!
Oh, ickkk! There’s a marshy pond!
Ohhhhh…..
We can’t go over it!
We can’t go under it!
We’re gonna have to swim it!
SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH
We’re going on a bear hunt!
I’ve got my binoculars.
I’m not scared!
Oh, EWW! It’s a muddy swamp!
ew
We can’t go over it!
We can’t go under it!
We’ll have to go through it.
BLOP BLOP BLOP BLOP
We’re going on a bear hunt!
I’ve got my binoculars.
I’m not scared!
Uh oh, what’s that?
It’s a dark cave.
We can’t go over it!
We can’t go under it!
We can’t go under it!
We’re gonna have to go inside it!
TIP TOE TIP TOE
We’re going on a bear hunt!
I’ve got my binoculars.
I’m not scared!
I can’t see a thing.
What’s that in the corner?
I feel two big ears-
I feel one wet nose-
I feel two sharp teeth.
I know what that is
It’s a bear!!! Let’s get out of here!
Let’s back out of the cave.
Tip toe tip toe
Quickly Crawl through the mud.
Blop blop blop
Rapidly Swim through the marshy pond.
Splash splash splash
RUN through the forest.
Crunch crunch crunch
through the yard and up the stairs into the house and close the door.
We’re BEARY muddy.
Laugh ha ha!
We’re safe now!
That was a close one!
Here are some activities you can do with “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” action song.
ACTION WORDS FOR GROSS MOTOR MUSCLE MOVEMENT
Use the action words to exercise and move gross motor muscles.
RUN THROUGH THE FOREST
HOME:
During the song pretend to be on the same journey as Ms. Sandra. Lay out some pillows and small blankets and pretend to have to climb over them to get through the forest. Use those big leg muscles!
SCHOOL:
Gather some props from the P.E. teacher to use as things the students can step over. Set up a mini-obstacle course for them to move through. Ideas include jumping in and out of hula hoops, steps and even jumping over bean bags will work.
SWIM THROUGH THE POND
HOME:
Next, put one large sheet or blanket down on the ground and pretend it’s the pond. You’ll need to swim across. Be sure to use your arms and legs to swim.
SCHOOL:
Use your blue and purple scarves and have some students wave the scarves as others swim through the pond. Then trade places.
CRAWL THROUGH THE SWAMP
HOME:
Now you have to crawl through the sticky gooey mud! You’ll need to get down on your hands and knees and crawl over the pillows and blankets again. Be sure to lift your arms and legs up high because they keep getting stuck in the goo!
SCHOOL:
Have students crawl from one side of the room to the other using 4 pieces of paper under hands and knees. They have to move the paper as they go.
TIP TOE INTO THE CAVE
HOME:
You’ll need a flashlight for this activity. You can give the children a flashlight and hide under one of the blankets. You can feel or shine the light on each other’s ears, noses and look into each other’s mouths and check out the teeth. Remember to be kind.
SCHOOL:
Darken the room. Use a flashlight to shine on a pretend or choose someone to be the bear. You may want to have students slowly tip toe towards the bear-but don’t touch it!
The bear can growl and chase the students
BACKWARDS ACTIONS
Can you do the actions backwards?
TIP TOE TIP TOE
CRAWL THROUGH THE MUD
SWIM THROUGH THE POND
RUN THROUGH THE FOREST, THROUGH THE YARD, UP THE STAIRS, INTO THE HOUSE AND CLOSE THE DOOR.
Whew! You did it!
Flop on the floor and take a nap with the bear!
