FREE MUSIC ACTIVITIES
In this FREE RESOURCE you’ll find three activities that will help students experience beat, rhythm and musical form using the original song “HAPPY NEW YEAR” by Sandra Hendrickson.
The Free Resource has a presentation with the words and teaching ideas. Students can learn the words and sing the song using the free audio tracks.
Students will bounce and pass a bean bag to show the musical form of the song. ABAB
The third activity is a ukulele lesson to learn chords C, F, G7 and D7. You’ll be able to use the music tracks to practice with and to sing along.
You’ll be able to use one song in three different ways across 3-4 grade levels.
I recommend singing the song in Kinder and First Grade. Have them create some body percussion patterns and sing and move together.
Use the bean bag game in 2nd and 3rd grades and possibly 4th.
Use the ukulele lesson for your students who are playing the ukulele this quarter.
