It’s winter time and I’ve got some fun winter movement movement and music activities you can use to help students stay engaged during the colder weather. These activities can be used as classroom brain breaks, movement activities, and in your virtual and in person classrooms.

WINTER MOVEMENT AND MUSIC ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

Everyone loves to build a snowman! It’s a great imagination activity, movement and singing activity too.

Let’s sing and build a snowman to music!

“Let’s Build a Snowman” movement activity video is a fun activity you can use with your snowman units, as a winter brain break and as part of a music lesson.

Try this fun scarf activity with your students and children on a cold and snowy day.

I tell my students to grab a scarf, bandana, Kleenex, dish towel or anything soft and floaty!

Brrrr! It’s Winter scarf activity time with penguin friends. Students love to move with scarves and music. This Winter Movement & Music Video activity is in one resource to help keep your active in music class, take a brain break or exercise! Students can stand in their own space or dance around their living rooms while exercising gross and fine motor muscles. Use the video in your virtual classrooms for Winter, January, February music and movement activities. Perfect for K-3 students.

WINTER EXERCISE MOVEMENT AND MUSIC ACTIVITY

SNOWMAN DANCE ACTIVITY

I love watching my younger students dance! This song moves quickly. You may want to go through the actions a couple of times before doing the activity.

This snowman song is a fun one to sing too!

You’ll definitely want to review the moves to this snowman workout!

This is a fun winter movement and music activity that can also help students read too!

He JUMPS, SLIDES, ROLLS, SPINS, TWISTS AND MELTS!

Here are the lyrics to the song.

  • Hey Mr. Snowman what do you say?
  • Let’s have some fun in the snow today?
  • Hey, Mr. Snowman, wanna play?
  • Let’s have some fun in the snow today!
  • Let’s-
  • JUMP
  • SLIDE
  • ROLL
  • RUN
  • TWIST
  • MELT

I like to have the students get super silent at the end as they melt in the snow.

Then, I tell them that the snow fairy is going to sprinkle snowflake dust on them and bring the snowman back to life.

I walk around the room with a scarf and sprinkle the snowflake dust on them and they all turn back into snowmen.

It’s “snow” much fun!

This song comes in two different resource. We have the snowman song as a brain break and the snowman activity with literacy activities.

MORE WINTER MOVEMENT AND MUSIC ACTIVITIES

Here are some more activity ideas you can use this winter. Children love to make things and on a snowy day it’s a good idea to have some craft activities ready.

Try these free snowman puppets. Make them and then sing the snowman dance song.
