Holiday music and movement activities for the preschool and elementary school music teacher. Sing, Move, Play throughout December.
HOLIDAY MUSIC AND MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES
In this post I’m sharing some fun music and movement activities you can use as a complete lesson. Combine movement with rhythm and singing activities for learning music concepts.
MOVEMENT AND BEAT
“Reindeer Beat” is a fun holiday movement activity for children. And, Holiday movement activities are so important during December. This upbeat song has easy dance actions like clap, stomp, tap, wiggle and shake movements. Let’s activate those gross motor muscles while moving like a reindeer.
“REINDEER BEAT” MUSIC AND MOVEMENT ACTIVITY
I had a kick out of writing and recording this fun holiday movement activity. I wanted to make something that would make your teaching job easier!
I’m hoping that this movement activity will help children stay active while learning in a virtual and socially distanced environment.
Just follow along with the video- no teaching necessary. If you’d like the complete resource, you can CLICK HERE to go to the TpT Store.
It’s a an engaging activity for your Holiday or Christmas movement activities.
I’m sure that many teachers can use this type of activity including; Preschool, Elementary Special Ed. and General Ed. teachers.
Give it a try and let me know how your students responded! I’ve love to know if it worked for your students.
I believe that it’s best for Preschool through 3rd Graders.
HOW I USE MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES
I’ve found that my younger students respond very well to shorter activities. I break the lessons down into SINGING, MOVING AND PLAYING types of music activities.
I’ll use a holiday song and have them clap the rhythms.
Then I’l have them play some rhythm patterns on their instruments.
Next we’ll have a movement activity.
Finally, we’ll sing another song or combine playing and singing together.
I’ve found that using a variety of learning opportunities helps me reach all learners.
You may want to use this fun Holiday scarf activity in your music classes the week before the holiday break.

HOLIDAY RHYTHM ACTIVITIES
I use these rhythm videos with my 2nd through 6th graders as a warm up.
Next, I have them play and create their own rhythm patterns.
This post will give you some more ideas for rhythm activities.
