This week I’m sharing some free and easy to use Valentine’s Day music class activities.

FREE VALENTINE’S DAY MUSIC CLASS ACTIVITIES

My Kindergartners and First Graders are warming up in music class with this FREE Valentine’s Day activity. “Heartbeat”. It’s available in the Teachers Pay Teachers Store:

And it’s on YouTube “HEARTBEAT” MUSIC LESSON

VALENTINE WARM UP

Before I begin the video I have my students echo sing some so-mi patterns using Valentine’s Day words.

With Kinders, I’ll only sing the words and use the body signs. (Shoulders-so, Waist-mi)

VA-LEN-TINE

SO SO   MI

CAN-DY

SO-  MI

I  LIKE  YOU

SO- MI SO

CHO-CO-LATE

SO- SO  MI

You get the idea!

Next I echo sing some of the lyrics of the song.

Finally, I’ll have them echo sing along with the video.

After they sing it one time, I review the lyrics with them and how I want them to show the actions.

For “heartbeat”, I’ll have them pat their chest with both hands.

Then we practice the actions together.

Finally, I have them sing and move again- this time I walk around the circle to redirect, or help students with the activity.

SING A VALENTINE’S DAY SONG

After we warm up our voices and our bodies, it’s time to sing a song.

I’m using this teaching video to teach “Skidamarink” to my primary students.

You can download the full music lesson with sheet music, audio files and teaching video when you SUBSCRIBE to the Sing Play Create Resource library.
