WINTERTIME IS THE RIGHT TIME TO LEARN MUSIC SKILLS
Wintertime is the the right time to learn music skills.
Teach using a variety of methods to give students a broad range of experiences to learn music concepts. This way you’ll provide a variety of opportunities for all of your students.
#1 LEARN MUSIC SKILLS THROUGH MOVEMENT
Wintertime is a great time to use body percussion activities. Not only do they help students connect to the beat- but they work well as transitions and brain breaks.
After a body percussion activity, students can sit down and work on rhythms.
#2 LEARN MUSIC SKILLS THROUGH SAYING AND PLAYING
Wintertime is a great time to say and play rhythms. Students will have had some experience with this and you’ll be able to help them create rhythms and compose melodies too!
#3 LEARN MUSIC SKILLS THROUGH CREATING
After practicing rhythms, let’s give students an opportunity to create rhythms too.
Use popsicle sticks, erasers, manipulatives and interactive google apps resources to help students gain experiences in creating rhythms.
